EUROPE EARTH GUEST DAY 2008 : Within the framework of its commitment to Sustainable Development, Compagnie des Wagons-Lits renewed its Earth Guest day operation in the spirit of International Earth day on April 22nd, 2008.

SPAIN : After the launch of the Spanish high speed train on December 22nd, 2007 connecting Madrid with Valladolid at a speed of 300 km in just 56 minutes, the Catalan city will be linked to Madrid two months later in just 2h38, covering 621 km, thus competing with the Madrid-Barcelona "air shuttle".

SPAIN : The AVE Madrid-Valladolid was launched on December 22nd 2007, after an inaugural run the 21st with Spanish political figures and Renfe staff. The launch of AVE Madrid-Barcelona is still awaited and is planned for the coming months.
Five trains per day run between both cities at a speed of about 300 kph, with travel time lasting 56 minutes. The Spanish subsidiary of Compagnie des Wagons-Lits provides a cafeteria catering service as well as comfort and care for 1st class travellers.

EUROPE : A small treat for a big cause ... On Friday 20th July, 2007, Cie des Wagons-Lits handed over a cheque of € 5,000 to PLAN France to contribute to the success of the educational project for 3000 children living in the shanty towns of São Luis in Brazil.

In the spirit of International Earth Day on April 22nd, 2007 and its commitment to Sustainable Development, Cie des Wagons-Lits offered a shared product created by Valrhona at the Bar Buffets of trains in France, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

Around 10 000 bars of chocolate were sold during this period. One half of sales was donated to PLAN. By purchasing this shared product, customers took part in the action supported by Cie Wagons-Lits to help underprivileged childhood.

The ITCA (International Travel Catering Association) organizes Mercury Awards every year.The Compagnie des Wagons-lits wins a Bronze Mercury Award in the «On Board Service» category for its gains for its TOUT&BIEN concept.

This contest rewards companies for their innovation, inspiration and application within the sphere of onboard customer service in the air and on rail. The Mercury Awards are the most prestigious awards in travel catering and onboard service world wide.
